Match Apple
Whatever Apple's online tool offers for your Mac, we offer the same — and you can stack our 18% upgrade discount on top.
We take broken
Apple Trade-In rejects cracked or dead Macs entirely. We don't. Live eBay parts pricing means you walk away with cash.
15-minute lock
Lock in any number on this page for 15 minutes. No appraisal queue, no waiting on a callback.
Free shipping
Out-of-state? We send a prepaid box. Local? Drop it off at our Marion shop.

How these numbers stay accurate
This table refreshes automatically as Apple updates their trade-in rates and the eBay parts market moves. When you click "Lock it in," we put a 15-minute price hold on that number — the final value is confirmed at inspection (typically within ~5% if your device matches the description). See Trade-In Terms for the full inspection + adjustment process.
Working devices
We pull Apple's published trade-in value for your exact model, then match it. You can stack our 18% upgrade discount on top, so the total against a refurbished Mac in our inventory is bigger than what Apple's program offers (Apple's discount applies only to new-from-Apple).
Cracked-screen devices
Apple Trade-In rejects cracked Macs. We don't. We look up the exact logic-board model on eBay's live parts market, calculate what we can flip it for after fees, and pay you a share. You walk away with cash for a machine Apple wouldn't take.
Dead / won't-power-on devices
Same approach, but on the display. A 2021 14" MacBook Pro's mini-LED display alone is worth $400+ on the parts market. We pay you a share, recover the screen, and resell it.
Methodology — how each number is computed
For full transparency, here's exactly how we arrive at every dollar amount on this page.
Apple-match (working devices)
- Source: Apple's publicly posted per-model trade-in values on apple.com/shop/trade-in, which Apple operates with their U.S. partner Phobio.
- Refresh cadence: headline ceiling values are pulled automatically every 24 hours; per-model values are reviewed quarterly and on-demand when Apple revises their schedule.
- Floor: for every working-device offer, our number is set to
max(our_calculation, apple_published_value). We never undercut Apple's published value for the same model and condition. If our internal math comes in higher than Apple's, you get the higher number. - Substantiation: we keep dated snapshots of
apple.com/shop/trade-inwith a SHA-256 hash of the page each time we read it. The audit log is queryable at/api/snapshot-apple-tradein(date list public; specific dates and raw HTML on request to rick@luxuriouscomputers.com).
eBay-derived (cracked / dead)
- Source: sold-listing medians via the official eBay Browse API (OAuth client credentials). We do not scrape; we pay for sanctioned API access.
- Cracked-screen offer: live "for parts not working" sold-median for the matching logic board model, multiplied by our 30% pay-share margin. The 30% covers eBay fees, listing time, and our test-fail tail.
- Dead-device offer: same structure but anchored on the matching display assembly sold-median.
- Floor: a $40 minimum on every parts-based offer so even a near-zero board still gets you walking-around money.
Logistics adjustment
- Pickup at our Marion, OH flagship: full quoted credit, no deduction.
- Ship-in (we mail you a prepaid box): a flat shipping deduction of $30 (laptops), $85 (desktops/iMacs), $25 (Mac mini), $10 (Apple TV), $25 (Vision Pro), or $8 (Watch / AirPods). The deduction reflects our actual outbound + return shipping cost; we don't mark it up.
What "15-minute price hold" actually means
Clicking "Lock it in" reserves the live-data value at the moment you committed for 15 minutes — long enough to capture the live snapshot before market moves. The final paid amount is confirmed at our inspection (per Trade-In Terms §5); historically the inspection-time number lands within ~5% of the held quote on devices that match the description.

Looking for the best trade-in value for your Mac?
Most trade-in services offer one of three things: (1) low-but-fast values like Apple Trade-In, (2) higher values but a slow appraisal process like Swappa or Gazelle, or (3) third-party broker pricing with hidden fees like Decluttr. We do something different — we publish our exact numbers in real time, match Apple automatically, and accept Macs Apple won't.

Trade in your MacBook Pro for cash or store credit
Whether it's a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" still kicking, a 2018 with a cracked screen, a 2021 M1 Pro 14", or a 2023 M3 Max 16" you're upgrading off — every model has a number on this page. We pay cash if you're walking out with credit toward a refurbished Mac, and our checkout supports same-day Apple Pay or Cash App if you'd rather take the money.
Sell your MacBook Air, M1, M2, or M3
The M-series Airs hold value better than any Apple laptop in history. If yours is working, our value matches Apple's. If it's cracked or dead, we pull the live logic-board or display medians from eBay so you get a real-world number — not a flat percentage of "estimated value."
Trade in iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro
Desktops are easier in one way (no screen to crack) and harder in another (heavier to ship). We send a prepaid LiftGate box for any iMac or Studio over 50 lbs. Drop it off at FedEx and we credit your account when it arrives.
Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple TV, Vision Pro trade-ins
Smaller Apple devices add up. An Apple Watch Ultra 2 trade-in tops $260 against Apple's published rate. A Vision Pro 256GB hits $1,300+. We accept everything Apple does, and broken AirPods or Apple TVs that Apple won't touch still earn the $40 minimum core credit at our Marion shop or via mail.
Why "in-real-time" matters
Trade-in values shift weekly. Apple silently lowered MacBook Pro maximums by 30%+ in January 2026. eBay parts markets move with new model launches. A static "trade-in chart" you found on a blog from 2023 is wrong by an average of 40%. The numbers on this page were computed when this page loaded — that's what real-time means.
